Back to Monday
We had a very relaxed fun afternoon dancing whilst the main object of the day was to raise as much money as possible . The unusual part of this however is that whilst we are dancing a group of cyclist from Yorkshire are cycling from Leeds to Blackpool. Headed by Terry Meehan and his brother the group of 15plus riders were cycling up and down hill , through head wind rain all for this special charity which was 1st discovered on the Tv programme the secret millionaire. since then a strong bond was formed.
We joined in about 4 years ago to be their welcoming committee now we have 2 of our dancers taking part Colin Bennett and Steve McEvoy who cycled there on the Sunday .
This year was the best ever@Dean St, we had amazing entertainment from Bob Morgan who donated his time for free – Our busker Bob had such a huge array of songs that our dance floor was never empty . My ultimate favourite was him singing the Bee Gees hit Massachusetts. This brought back some personal happy memories of my elder brother who I lost to cancer 20 years ago.
The cyclists arrived about 6pm to all the dancers lining the street -waving flags and cheering . After a quick cup of tea ,soup and roll they were then ready to take the stage to entertain us dancers.
Darren Busby and Darren Binns followed by 3 sheets to the wind (Terry, his brother and friend Nial) Seeing the two Darrens on stage in the shorts and socks is a long lasting memory.
Please put the date in your diary for next year,
We hope to be bigger and better again.
If you want to join in the cycle please contact Jean Webb or Donnas Dream House.
